We are not open yet. Our first house, for women veterans, is planned to open in April 2027, and our first house for men in August 2027, as funding is committed. There is no address and no door to walk up to. That is on purpose. The path starts with one email or one caseworker.

Our women's houses will be home to women veterans who survived military sexual trauma and other abuse. Their safety depends on privacy, so we publish no address. No address appears here, on a sign, or in a grant application. And because we will never have one staff member meet a stranger alone, every first meeting will be arranged in advance at a partner's office, with two people present.
The VA, the Colorado Springs Vet Center, Volunteers of America, or the El Paso County Veterans Service Office. If you already have a caseworker anywhere, ask them to contact us at help@secondwatchvh.org.
If you do not have a caseworker, email or call us. We will find the right agency, make the introduction, and stay in it. You should not have to find your way through five organizations to get one bed.
Two of us, in a private room, with time set aside. You will not be asked to tell the worst thing that ever happened to you in order to qualify. Intake will be spread over the first seventy two hours.
Same day where a bed is open and safety requires it. Nobody will wait on the street overnight for a paperwork appointment.

These are the questions veterans and the people helping them ask most. If yours is not here, email or call and a person will answer it.
No. Any discharge characterization qualifies, including Other Than Honorable. You served. That is the test.
No. It will be transitional housing, a bedroom of your own in an ordinary house in Colorado Springs for up to eighteen months. We cannot take anyone tonight. If you need somewhere safe tonight, the Help Tonight page has the numbers that answer right now.
Yes. The first house we open is for women veterans who have survived abuse of any kind, including military sexual trauma. Every bedroom will be single occupancy and every door will lock from the inside. Read more on the Women's House page.
No. Active substance use does not keep you out, and using in your own room is not grounds for exit. It starts a conversation with a clinician.
None of those keep you out. Many of the veterans we are built for have all three. We will help you replace documents once you are in. Every admission is reviewed personally by the founder. A history of violence is not an automatic no; you will be heard before any decision.
Ask. We are writing the pet policy now, and we are writing it to say yes wherever we can. Nobody should have to choose between the only friend they have and a bed. Until it is settled we will tell you exactly where it stands when you call.
Our houses will be in El Paso County. If you are anywhere in the Pikes Peak region, or leaving Fort Carson, Peterson, Schriever or the Academy with nowhere to go, write to us and we will do the routing.
Nothing to get in. A program fee is set against your income once you have one, and every dollar of it comes back to you when you graduate, as savings toward your own place, which for most graduates means shared housing with at least one roommate on your own income.
Up to eighteen months. Most people need about eleven. Nobody is discharged to the street.
